Art & Culture
at the Hubbardston Public Library
Wednesdays from 3-4 pm
April 18 through May 2

This three week series is intended for children ages 8 to 14. Students will take inspriation from and lookat art from various wolrd cultures through story, art and artifacts and go on to create their own works of art in this hands-on series of classes.

Fall Programs for Teens & Pre-teens at Listening

Watercolor: Wet-on-Wet
Saturday, October 29, 9:45am-11:45am
Using the exciting watercolor technique of wet-on-wet and frisket resist with professional grade watercolors and paper, participants will create a paper lantern suitable for use in the home just in time for Halloween! (Electric candle lamp included.)
Watercolor & the Art of Zentangle
Saturday, November 19, 9:45am-11:45am
Using professional grade watercolors, paper and sharpie markers, we will use our imaginations to create Zentangles: doodle-like patterns and shapes that result in unique abstract paintings. Watercolor techniques will be introduced. Paintings will be suitable for framing.


Clay I: Frame for Mirror or Photo
Saturday, November 5, 9:45am-11:45am
Students will use slab technique to make a frame for a mirror or photo. Frames are painted with slip glaze in class and are suitable for holiday presents. Frames will then be kiln fired and can be picked up 2 weeks later.
Clay II: Sculpture
Saturday, November 12, 9:45am-11:45am
Using coil and pinch techniques we will make figurines of both people and animals that are suitable for holiday presents. (Sculptures fired in kiln & picked up in 2 weeks).

Fall Programs with Renee

Coming up this fall:
Fun Fantasy & Fine Art at Listening Wellness Center, Barre
Mondays, 3:30-4:30 pm, Starting Sept. 19
Children (ages 5-12) will explore the world of imagination, creating castles, wizards, fairy houses, monsters and more, while learning 2- and 3-D artistic techniques. If this 8-week class, fills another will be added at 4:45 pm.) $75

Three Popular Masters at the Hubbardston Public Library
Thursdays, November 3-17, 4:30- 5:30 pm
This series will introduce participants (ages 5-12) to familiar works of 3 popular master artists: Monet, Van Gogh, and O'Keefe. Each 1-hour session will focus on viewing the artist's work and creating original works in the same style using watercolor, oil pastel, pastel and acrylic paints on paper. This program will allow participants to learn more about popular works by famous artists as well as explore the process these artists utilized in a hands-on manner. This program will give participants a better understanding and familiarity with the work and processes of the artists. FREE

Solstice Lantern Workshop at the New Salem Public Library

Celebrate the changing seasons like many ancient cultures and present day revelers with light! This multi-age tissue paper collage on glass project offers an option of silhouettes for older students and adults. Participants will have a finished project when done that can be used in solstice celebrations or other related holidays. This is a great family project that lets participants get messy! FREE

Holiday Paper Luminaries at the Hubbardston Public Library
Thursday, December 8 from 5-6:30 pm
Celebrate the changing seasons like many world-wide revelers - with light! This is a multi-age project using cut paper and tissue inserts. This is a fun workshop that lets participants get a little messy! A brief explanation of how lanterns are used in other cultures will be provided with the focus on creating the lantern itself. Participants of multi-ages will be able to participate on various levels while simultaneously creating a product.  Participants will have several finished projects when done that can be used in solstice celebrations or other related holidays. FREE

Holiday Arts & Crafts at Listening Wellness Center, Barre
Mondays, 3:30-4:30 pm, 4 Weeks Starting Nov. 21
Children ages 5-12 will make holiday gifts and cards! $40
